BACKGROUND
The client’s family first discovered Whitefish during a ski trip many years ago and quickly fell in love with the ski mountain, the town, and the year-round lifestyle Northwest Montana offers. As avid skiers, they were drawn to Whitefish Mountain Resort’s authentic character, diverse terrain, and welcoming atmosphere. Owning a home on the slopes became a long-term dream that eventually became reality.
Designed as a true mountain retreat, the home incorporates subtle nods to Whitefish ski culture and Montana history throughout. Vintage skier wallpaper, local artwork, historic signage, and a custom ventilated ski locker system create a personal connection to the ski community that inspired the project. Vaulted ceilings and expansive picture windows frame the surrounding landscape, while heated outdoor living spaces, radiant concrete patios, and a sunken steel hot tub blur the line between indoor and outdoor living.
The interior embraces a clean mountain-modern aesthetic with slim countertop profiles, quartz-wrapped vanities, flush-mounted baseboards, and custom steel-and-leather railings throughout. Despite the complexities of the project, the home was completed on schedule and exceeded expectations, resulting in a highly personalized retreat that reflects both the family’s passion for skiing and their connection to Whitefish.
