BACKGROUND
What began as a simple lakeside gathering place evolved into a vision for a full-time retreat designed to maximize time spent enjoying Whitefish Lake. The owners sought a home that embraced the waterfront lifestyle while creating a comfortable setting for entertaining family and friends throughout the summer months.
Situated on a narrow lakeside lot, the home draws inspiration from coastal California architecture, where thoughtful design is essential to making the most of limited space. At just 30 feet wide, the residence feels remarkably open and spacious, with expansive glass doors that create a seamless connection between the interior living spaces and the lake beyond. Every room was carefully planned to capture views, natural light, and easy access to the waterfront.
Despite its compact footprint, the home delivers refined finishes and custom details throughout, showcasing a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The result is a highly efficient lakefront residence that blends sophisticated design with effortless indoor-outdoor living.
PROJECT NOTES
The constrained site presented unique construction challenges, including limited parking, material staging, and access throughout the building process. Coordination was further complicated by multiple design stakeholders and owner-performed masonry and tile work, requiring flexibility and careful scheduling to keep the project moving forward.
One of the home's greatest successes is how effectively it transforms a narrow lot into a spacious and inviting waterfront retreat. Large glass openings frame views of Whitefish Lake and Great Northern Mountain, while the morning sunlight fills the home and highlights the craftsmanship found throughout the project.
